Golden Shower anyone?

"Red eyes" or "pink eyes" is a broad term used to describe irritated and bloodshot eyes. Lately we have had a large cluster of cases in the Federation of a variant of this condition refer to as Epidemic Keratoconjunctivitis or EKC. As the name suggests it spreads very quickly and is highly contagious.

A diagnosis of EKC is generally based on signs and symptoms and may include pain, light sensitivity, increased discharge, gritty feeling and excessive watering.

On most occasions EKC clears up on its own in about 2-3 weeks. However severe cases require treatment of antiviral medications for a period of 6 weeks.

In the "golden"days the superstitious treatment involved parents washing children's eyes with their urine. Fast forward to the modern days URINE WILL NOT BE PRESCRIBED for this condition.

Please consult an ophthalmologist for all suspected cases of red eyes.
